For us, beekeeping is not just a professional activity. It is a heritage passed down from generation to generation, a vocation that requires dedication, knowledge, and above all, respect. Since 1930 until today, at Melissa, we have upheld intact the philosophy with which our ancestors began: to work with the bees, not on them.
Traditional Methods
We consistently follow traditional beekeeping techniques based on observation, experience, and patience. We do not use industrial practices or invasive methods. Our honey is collected and packaged in the purest way, without heat treatment, in order to preserve its taste, aromas, and nutritional properties intact.
Respect for the natural environment
The bee is one of the most important organisms on the planet, and the environment that hosts it is sacred to us. We place our hives in carefully selected locations in Kos and Nisyros, away from pollution and disturbances. We apply sustainable practices, avoiding the overexploitation of the hives.
More than a profession
Beekeeping is for us a way of life. It is the morning visit to the hives, the scent of thyme in the air, the care for each hive, the satisfaction we feel when we see the pure, golden honey filling our jars. It is the pride of offering a product that is pure, genuine, and full of soul.
